Our cook is experienced as a chef and creates nutritional and creative dishes for our children on a daily basis. At LBC, we serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Most dishes are prepared from scratch. Homemade soups, roast beef and mashed potatoes, or chicken and rice are some of our favorite lunch items. We also work to incorporate new or different foods into our menus, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, roll-ups instead of sandwiches, vegetarian and diverse foods. Additionally, we serve whole grain breads and pastas as we are able to incorporate them.
We follow and exceed the USDA regulations for healthful eating; our staff sit at the tables during meal times, and eat with the children. Children are encouraged to try all foods that are served. Seconds are available for children requesting more, and children are assisted in determining how much they will eat, and only to take what they will eat. Milk is served at breakfast and lunch, and milk, juice or water at snack time. Water is available at all meals.
LBC is a peanut free facility. We do not serve peanuts or foods that have peanuts listed as an ingredient. Foods are served that contain the awareness notice of potential machinery shared during production of a product.
School-aged children enrolled in the before care program will be served breakfast prior to departure for school. School-aged children enrolled in the aftercare program will be served snack upon arrival or by 4:00pm.
Infants will be fed on infant’s individual schedule. Infant food will be provided by parents. These include formula, jarred foods and jarred juices, which will be labeled. Bottles and cups will also be labeled.
Special diets, including nutrient concentrates and supplements may be served only upon written instruction of a child’s physician and upon request of the parent. Parents may be asked to provide special alternate foods that are not normally stocked by the Center.
Cooks, staff members, child care workers and substitutes having direct contact with the children shall be informed about food allergies and other allergies of the children.
